The hole in the surface
Have you ever experienced a miracle, or at least hoped that one would happen? Wouldn't today be a good time? Yes, why not? At any rate, reports of inexplicable events keep coming: a fifteen-year-old in Nike trainers is made a saint, statues of the Virgin Mary appear in the supermarket next to the frozen peas, a dandelion blooms in cracked asphalt and your local sports team is finally promoted to the top flight. Was that a miracle, then?
And you don't understand it. It goes beyond the laws of everyday life and nature. You ask yourself: How is this possible? An opening in the world and in the body: wide eyes, a receptive posture, open mouths. An incision in everyday life, a tear in reality.
äöü takes you on a theatrical pilgrimage to unexplained events, scientific wizardry and a seemingly impossible quest. To the sound of electronic harp music, they travel from Assisi via Međugorje to Fátima and back to the Ruhr region. Between faith, science, hope and (theatrical) magic, it invites äöü a poetic performance about that which defies the laws of everyday life and nature. With their usual twinkle in the eye, great curiosity and admitted doubt, äöü extends their antennae. Believe it if you will. Can you feel it too?
For everyone, who are curious about the cracks in our reality. For sceptics and believers, for science enthusiasts and lovers of superstition, for theatre fans just as much as for anyone who otherwise rarely ventures into the magic box that is theatre.
