Rise and fall of the swimming pool
notsopretty going for a swim: Between swimming pools, sunbathing lawns and open-air swimming pool chips, an open-air audio walk about summer, longing and social inequality is created. The pool becomes the stage for a conflict: luxury meets scarcity, seclusion meets community, abundance meets drying up.
A mix of humour, pop and chlorinated accusation. Rise and Fall of the Swimming Pool weaves nostalgic childhood memories with fantasies of owning a pool, asking who can afford leisure and who is left high and dry.
Put on your headphones and take a walk through the outdoor lido. The event will take place rain or shine. Please wear suitable shoes and clothing. You can leave your swimming gear at home.
In spoken German and with integrated audio description.
A project by notsopretty in co-production with the Theater im Depot, the prt and in cooperation with the Revierpark Wischlingen.
Funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of structural funding, the City of Dortmund and the City of Bochum.
